May 4, 2005 20:02 - Stress Free Kids' Party Planning

I don't know about you, but I'm always interested in a stress-free life...

And while murder mystery parties can be anything but stress free, I like to do what I can to minimise that stress. (Hence all the hints and tips here on my site...)

Until now I haven't had any articles specifically covering kids' parties - but that's because I'm not really an expert on children. Yes, I was one once, but that was longer ago than I care to admit to and I don't have any kids of my own. (Yet - I'm not ruling it out.)

Luckily there are experts on kids parties out there - so here's an article by Patricia Jensen called Stress Free Kids Party Planning .

Click here to read Stress Free Kids Party Planning.

I hope it will be the first of many articles for kids' parties.

May 7, 2005 13:24 - Playing the murderer

We're talking murder mystery parties here - and someone has to be the murderer...

Unlike a lot of other murder mystery parties, the interactive games by Freeform Games, Murder Mystery Games and Dinner and a Murder Mystery Games usually let you know that you are the murderer from the start of the game. (I say "usually" as there are one or two exceptions.)

There's some etiquette to being the murder - for example, please don't tell anyone! And to put it bluntly, don't expect to get away with it! You're the murderer - therefore you're a villain. Enjoy it!

Anyway, I won't go into more detail as I've written a piece for the website.

May 16, 2005 10:31 - Farewell Guilty Parties Newsletter...

I've just sent out the last of my Guilty Parties email newsletter.

I've stopped publishing the newsletter for several reasons - but the main one is that there's a better and more timely way of keeping up to date with the latest murder mystery news: the Guilty Parties News Blog (this blog!).

While the newsletter is only sent to those who have specifically asked for it, it's still eaten by more and more spam-filters these days and so it's becoming a less and less important way of delivering news. (If you subscribe to other newsletters I am sure that some of them will go the same way.)

The Guilty Parties News Blog contains everything that the newsletter contains - and it's just updated every week or so rather than every other month.

You can either read the Guilty Parties News Blog on my site just as if it is another web-page or you subscribe to the RSS feed.

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and all that means is that if you have an "RSS Reader" every time I update the News Blog you'll be informed. So your news will be much more timely and relevant.

Best of all, you probably already have access to an RSS Reader...

You can subscribe to an RSS feed in several ways:

To subscribe, you'll need to add this link:

http://www.great-murder-mystery-games.com/support-files/rss.xml

to your RSS reader.

So, there's no need for the Guilty Parties newsletter any more! I'll keep the back issues on the site for the forseeable future, but I won't be adding any more.

Thank you all for reading, and please subscribe to the Guilty Parties News Blog!

(And now I have to start stripping out all the subscription forms on the site...)

May 20, 2005 19:41 - Planning your party

Just a quick note to say that I've added a new page to the site - Planning your party.

Planning your party explains how I would ideally plan a party - starting from choosing a game through to the big night itself. I've included links to other hints and tips where they are appropriate so that you can follow the whole process from start to finish.

You can read Planning your party here.

May 31, 2005 19:52 - Ten Kids Party Planning No-Nos

I've just added a new article to the site - Ten Kids Party Planning No-Nos by Patricia Jensen.

Ten Kids Party Planning No-Nos covers all the sins of planning parties for your kids - such as inviting more kids than you can handle, failing to kid-proof the party venue and not planning enough activities. The article isn't specifically aimed at planning murder mystery parties for kids, but a lot of the same advice holds true.

Read Ten Kids Party Planning No-Nos here.
