February 1, 2006 18:02 - What's the difference between dinner theatre and an interactive murder mystery party?

Glad you asked. Previously I didn't really answer this question - which is a bit of an oversight given that there are lots of different types of murder mystery party available.

I've now recitifed the situation and created a page where I discuss the various differnt types - their good points, their bad points and where you can buy them.

Click here to read The Different Types of Murder Mystery Party Games.

February 6, 2006 20:41 - Great Murder Mystery Games in the top 1% of all websites!

I'm delighted - I've just found out that my site has been listed in SiteSell's list of websites that are in the top 1% of all websites - ranked by traffic.

You can see the list here - Great Murder Mystery Games is about half way down the page, under hobbies. (They're actually using an old image of the front page - I've recently updated it.)

(The ranking is calculated by Alexa - a third party no affiliated with SiteSell.)

The reason I'm linked there is because I have built Great Murder Mystery Games using their Site Build It! tools and software. It's kind of like a set of tools for running a business on the web. I can concentrate on the important things (adding pages to the site, answering your queries, posting news items on this blog) while they deal with the nuts and bolts of things like making sure I'm included in Google and other search engines, and actually running the email newsletter software.

Site Build It! actually does a darn sight more than that, but I don't really have the space to do it justice here. Instead you can either click here for the quick tour or contact me if you've got a question and I'll explain how Site Build It! has really helped me do so well. Click here to contact me.

February 12, 2006 20:36 - How many guests?

I've had a few queries recently about how many guests each murder mystery game requires, so it's probably a good time to go through it in detail.

Take Cudham Riding Club, for example. Cudham Riding Club is listed as being suitable for 14 - 40 people. That means you need a minimum of 14 people to host Cudham Riding Club - including the host. The game will cater for up to 40 people (including the host) and if you have any number in between, then the instructions explain who to leave out and who you should include.

(If you have more than 40 people and you still want to host Cudham Riding Club, then you need to add more characters. Click here for my suggestions of how to add characters to a game.)

The Freeform Games murder mysteries are slightly different - each one requires a host (who doesn't play a character). So All at Sea, for example, is suitable for 16 to 33 guests, plus one host.

Here you can find a list of all the murder mystery games - complete with the number of people they are suitable for.

February 19, 2006 10:51 - Extra characters for Freeform Games

Freeform Games have had an extra character ('Ginger' Roberts) available for their games for some time. You can use Ginger to add an extra guest when you're playing one of their games.

They've just recently done two things. The first is to make separate versions of Ginger specific to each game - making it much easier.

The other thing is that they've created a set of templates so that if you want to create your own extra characters for a game - then you can. The templates mean that you can make your extra characters look roughly similar to the "official" characters.

Best of all, if you've created an extra character and you send it in, if Freeform Games like it they will publish it on their site and will give you a free game to say thanks! (They have already got extra characters for some of their games - A Dead Man's Chest and Dazzled to Death.)

So write your own Freeform Games characters and get a free game!

Click here to to go the Freeform Games site and read about their free extra characters.
