Games for up to 10 players

Hi,

I was looking at your games for 10 - 12 people. If I only have 10 people, how do I know who to use in the game??

What happens to the other two characters??

And if I only have 10 people one person needs to be the host, is the host also a character??

Thanks

My response:

All the games come with full instructions for which characters to use and which characters are optional.

Sometimes you may have to give the characters that you do use some extra information that would have otherwise been known only by the characters you aren't using, but it's all clearly explained. (And it's rarely more than a paragraph or two.)

And as for those remaining characters - they either haven't appeared, or they have been struck ill or otherwise simply aren't around. Sometimes means that a plot or two might not go as originally planned, but it's never a big problem.

I do, incidentally, recommend that you try and fill your games - but the games are written to be played perfectly well with the minimum of players.

Your question about the host is slightly tricky as the games vary depending on the publisher. In some cases the games need a separate host, in others they don't. For those games that need a separate host (generally by Freeform Games), I would generally advise that the host doesn't take a character as well - but it is possible.

I've written a few words on combining the host/player role here: Playing and hosting a murder mystery game (At the same time!)
