Host-Party.com provides customisable murder mystery games in a range of themes and sizes - and to suit ages 6 and up. Their games come in broadly two types:
Clue based parties
In clue based murder mysteries all the guests are suspects and everyone tries to solve the crime. The mystery is divided into rounds (often separated by a meal course). During each round your guests receive clues that will unfold and reveal the mystery. As they play it's important that they do not lie - although they must try and conceal their secret clue.
These games generally suit smaller numbers - certainly no more than 18 players (and usually a lot less). They take about two hours to play though.
Once all the rounds have been completed everyone gathers around and says who they think committed the murder (or mystery) and how and why. Then each guest reads out the solution in order of clue number.
Scripted murder mystery games
For larger parties (over 15 guests), Host-Party.com offer scripted murder mystery games. You'll need 6-8 volunteers willing to take the role of key roles - such as primary suspects, the victim(s) and the killer. They will have full knowledge of the script (which means they know the solution). Everyone else takes the role of detective and has to solve the case.Everyone has a role - either as a detective or primary suspect.
Scripted murder mysteries typically take about 2 to 2 1/2 hours to play out.The key roles don't need to memorize a lot of dialogue, but will need to know the sequence of events and they will have to stage certain actions (such as arguments) and suspicious activities.
These games are ideal as corporate team-building activities - with the primary suspects acting as a team and the detectives also working in teams.
