need ideas

I am having a very large group party. There will be 10 tables of 8 a (4 adult couples). I thought we could do a "Love Boat" setting and decorate each table to represent a deck on the ship. Then I would give each couple a facecious name and occupation. The tables would be decorated with items that might be found on that deck of the ship. The captain would come over the intercom and report that there has been a murder on the ship and that there is going to be an investigation. This crime must be solved!

I wanted to play it similar to the game of CLUE, but I have hit a wall as to were to go from here. I need a scenario or idea to make this work? HELP?

Hi - it sounds like you could happily run one of the Mysteries-on-the-Net parties. They have several key characters, and everyone else plays a detective.

(I know you wanted to do it all yourself - but to be honest, purchasing a game takes a lot of effort out of organising the event and means you have a game you can rely on.)
