Short game for Christmas night out

by Elizabeth Griffiths
(Oxfordshire, UK)

We're a bunch of colleagues going out at Christmas and I'd like to organise some kind of murder mystery game for some entertainment. I've hosted murder mystery dinner parties in the past but that's very much where people come specifically for that purpose and that's the focus of the evening. This needs to be very much lighter touch so more like a general puzzle to solve that can cope with people dipping into it two or three times over the space of the evening, asking a few questions and then having a guess.

You may tell me that no such thing exists! but I thought I would ask the question.

Happy to have a phone call to talk it over if that helps to clarify it. There will be circa 15 - 18 of us.
Thank you!

My response:

I can't think of anything along the lines that you're looking for - all of the murder mystery games that I'm aware of are definitely the focus of the evening.

Sorry I don't have any other ideas.
