Need a murder mystery part for next weekend

by Mike
(Sweden)

Hi there! Love the website! This would be my first go at a murder mystery part - it's for my wife's 30th bday party. However it's next weekend, not sure if I have enough time to have something shipped here. Are any of these murder mysteries available as a download without needing anything sent to me - ie all digital?

Would really appreciate the help!

My response:

Glad you like the website.

All the games on the site are available digitally, so you can download them as soon as you've paid for them.

(Note that you buy and download the games from the publishers, not me. So if you have difficulty with the downloads please contact them direct, rather than go through me (which will inevitably delay things).)

It's entirely possible to run a game at the short notice you suggest (although I will be honest and say that it's shorter notice than I prefer - but I've never been one to do anything at the last minute).

I suggest you have a look at my "Choosing a murder mystery party game" page for your next step. And don't forget to check out my hints and tips for hosts!

Casting on the spot works fine
by: Steve (GMMG)

You can cast on the evening, that's absolutely fine.

Depending on the game, you might want to give everyone a little bit longer at the start so that they have time to read their character background. (With more time, some people like to send out character information in advance.)

The other thing to think about is to pick a game that's easy to costume for, such as Hollywood Lies (basic black tie and evening gowns) or The Auction (modern day).

I hope you have a great party.

Preparation for guests
by: Mike

Thanks for the quick response! I guess I am not sure why the short time is an issue, I thought I could have my guests show up in a "general theme" and I could facilitate the game. Do the guests have to show up in a specific costume that I "assign" to them beforehand? Or can it all be done on the spot?

Best
Mike
