Spanish translations of Freeform Games

by Paige Farris
(Palestine, AR)

I am a Spanish teacher in Palestine, AR and have seen Freeform Games used in the English as a Second Language classrooms with great success. Because I have seen how much the students learn and how much fun they have with these games, I would love to use them in my Spanish classroom next year.

However, I haven't seen the games in Spanish. I would like to know if they are available in other languages as well. If they are not sold on your website, I would like to request permission to translate them into Spanish for my students.

Thank you so much and keep up the great work.

My response:

Thanks for the kind words!

As for Spanish translations, there are currently no Spanish translations of the Freeform Games murder mysteries. (There are translations into German and Russian, but not Spanish.)

However, Freeform Games are very happy if you want to create your own translation for your own use - all you need to do is buy the game first. (You can then contact them to get the MS Word documents, if that will help.)

If you are just running your own game then you can just translate the characters and handouts and leave it at that. But if you want to go further and translate the whole game, then get in touch with Freeform Games because they may be interested in working with you on a Spanish translation of their games. (I have no idea how vibrant the Spanish murder mystery market is - it would be worth picking the right game before spending a lot of time translating it!)

Step 2 - Review the Tips for Hosts for helpful advice.
