Can I play and host a game?

I am thinking about getting A Dead Man's Chest to play with 15 people.

I was wondering if it is possible for me, as the host, to get involved in any way? I am a bit worried that I won't be able to enjoy the evening with everyone else if I am the host.

I haven't done this before, so I don't know if I am worrying about nothing and that it will be great as the host.

Thank you in advance.

My response:

Hi - I enjoy being the host, although it is a different role to being a player.

As host you will have plenty to do - there will be fights to oversee, and players may ask you to listen in to conversations for them. (Plus they will ask you all sorts of other things!)

If you're feeling brave, you could try playing a character and hosting at the same time. I wouldn't normally recommend that to a new host, but I've written some tips here.

The other thing you might consider is to download the free Way out West game. It's also by Freeform Games, and reading that will give you an idea of the sort of things that a host will do. Click here to learn more about the free Way out West game.

Don't know where to start?

Here's my suggested quick route through the site:

Step 1 - Go to Choosing a Game to choose the game that suits your party best.

Step 2 - Review the Tips for Hosts for helpful advice.
