Games for all boys?

by Sally

We played Bludgeoned on Broadway this year on New Years Eve. It was a fantastic night - everyone got dressed up and in the true spirit of things.

It was such fun that my 12 year old son wants to do one for his birthday party later this month. Could you recommend a party that would be good for an all boy cast (I'm not sure how happy they will be acting the part of a girl). I imagine there will be about 10 boys ranging from 12 - 14.

Hope you can help.

Will definitely be back for more games this year. we have all played more 'structured' murder mysteries, but all agreed we like the 'freeform ' style more!

Look forward to your reply

My response:

I'm glad you enjoyed Bludgeoned on Broadway - and that you enjoyed the unstructured nature of the freeform style games.

Although I am not aware of a freeform-style murder mystery that is for boys only, you do have a couple of options.

First is Pirate Island by Freeform Games (the guys behind Bludgeoned on Broadway). Pirate Island isn't a murder mystery as such, but a series of pirate themed competitions and games to find the best pirate crew. The pirates are grouped into teams (ship crews) and work together. It's aimed at ages 8 and up - but I've seen adults play and enjoy it.

Second, if you're dead set on a murder mystery, then you might want to take a look at the Mysteries-on-the-Net games, as they have a lot of games suitable for kids. Their games are more structured and mainly concern solving the murder/mystery than the "whole pile of plots and stuff going on" that characterize the interactive games.

I hope that helps - have a good party!
